At Sin City Real Estate & Management, our team loves the holidays, you’ll notice by our office decor every season! With Halloween landing on a Saturday this year, expect more trick-or-treaters, more parties, and a later night than usual. Here’s how renters and owners can keep the fun spooky, not costly.
Decorate Without Damaging the Property
Decorating is a huge part of Halloween, but it is important to avoid damage that could come out of your security deposit.
- Use removable adhesives: Choose products made to come off smoothly, such as Command Hooks, rather than nails or screws.
- Avoid Candles & Open Flames: Opt for battery operated candles or LED lights. If you use real candles, keep them away from dry plants and wood fences.
- Anchor Outdoor Decor: Las Vegas gets windy. Secure any inflatables or other outdoor props so they don’t fly away or cause damage.
- Check your Lease & Hoa Rules: Before decorating, review your lease & HOA regulations make sure your decorations is within their limits.
- Carving Pumpkins? In warm Vegas weather, outdoor carved pumpkins can rot quickly, attract bugs, and stain concrete. Be mindful of decomposition or opt for faux pumpkins.
Keep Trick-or-Treaters & Your Property Safe
- Light pathways: Make sure porches and walkways are well lit, and clear clutter to prevent trips or falls.
- Lock Gates & Secure Pool Areas: Curious children may wander where they shouldn’t, and locked gates keep intruders out.
- Keep pets safely Indoors: With frequent visitors to the door, pets may become curious, stressed, or try to slip out the door.
Halloween Parties & Being Mindful of Neighbors
With Halloween landing on a Saturday this year, parties are inevitable. Keep yours in line by following your lease and HOA rules.
- Provide A Heads Up: A friendly note to neighbors is always thoughtful and prevents worries or confusion.
- Share Parking Info with Guests: No one likes a blocked driveway or assigned spot taken.
- Review Lease: Properties may have occupancy, guest, or noise rules.
For Owners:
- Send Tenants Friendly Reminders about Decor guidelines and safety.
- Secure vacant properties by locking gates, doors, and windows.
- Check exterior lights at properties, well-lit homes deter vandalism and prevent trips and falls.
